Onomappu Factory is a small company based out of Tokyo, Japan that understands learning should be fun! Japan is a peaceful island country in East Asia with a rich history, vibrant culture and delicious food. It is also the birthplace of amazing technology and pop-culture like anime, manga and video games that are enjoyed worldwide.
We're excited that Japan is becoming a popular country with the numbers of tourists and Japanese language learners increasing every year. But the Japanese language isn't an easy language to master. The writing system alone contains 4 different alphabets, one of which has over 2000 commonly used characters. On top of that, there are many homonyms (words that sound the same), various alternative ways of saying the same thing based on the degree of politeness, as well as nearly 4500 onomatopoeia (sound words) used casually to paint a more vivid picture of what Japanese people are talking about, all nuanced based on our five senses.
To enjoy Japan to the fullest, language learners will have a tough climb ahead of them. It may even feel as difficult and steep as climbing the famous Mt. Fuji! But that doesn't mean the climb should be painful. In fact, if your learning process is tedious and boring, it's likely that your brain may even turn off automatically as if it's telling you "I don't want to do this anymore!". To successfully learn the language and begin to immerse yourself into Japan and all it has to offer, your learning will need to be fun! This way your brain will actively retain the information as if it's telling you "keep giving me more!".
